If you're interested in a fun beginner project to learn After Effects then look no further! Animated loops are a great way of learning animation, illustration, character design, rigging and so much more. I'll be there creating my own animated loop alongside you! Let me guide you through all of the tricky parts of After Effects, so the program can get out of your way and you get to the fun stuff. By the end of the class, you'll have your very own animated loop that you can post on social media to impress all of your friends.

I tried to design this class to be approachable to people who have never opened After Effects before, but it's a great project for all skill levels! Even if you have some After Effects knowledge under your belt already, but you're unsure what you should do with it, this is a great way of cementing your skillset.

After Effects is the only mandatory program you need to have installed but I find that it's easier to create characters in Illustrator, so you should install that as well if possible! Adobe Media Encoder is also useful to have installed to make exporting our animated loops easier.

The reason I'm so passionate about animated loops being one of the best ways of learning After Effects is because when you create one, it requires you to interact with a lot of the different parts of the program. You'll get your feet wet with subjects like:

    - Illustration

    - Rigging
    - Character Animation
    - Compositing
    - & More!

I'm Matt by the way! I'm an Intermediate Motion Graphic Designer for Uken Games in Toronto. We're the company behind the games for Jeopardy! and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? but we're hard at work on our latest game Ava's Manor as well! But before I got my start at Uken, I made animated loops in my spare time and I found that it was a great way of sharpening my skills.

I know I learn better and feel more engaged with the content when the presenter's enthusiasm shows through in their lessons, so I (hopefully) made this class at least a little bit entertaining as well! This took a little over a year of my admittedly little free time to put together and it's lowkey something that I'm super proud of.

So with all of that being said, are you ready to dive in?

Hi! I'm Matt, a Motion Graphic Specialist for Digital Extremes! We make a game called Warframe that I adore and played long before joining DE.  I genuinely feel so thankful that I get to work for my dream company, and I'm excited to help share the skills that got me here.

I really love After Effects. It makes me feel like a modern-day wizard. It has such a powerful suite of tools that make creating things possible. I have a tattoo of the After Effect's stopwatch on my arm, which is a button that you click when you know that something is going to change over time. The reason I got the tattoo is similar. No matter where you are on your journey, whether you're just getting started, or have been lurkin' in layers for years, with a little bit of effort, you can change over time into something better.

I've started up a company called Stop & Watch that reinforces this idea. When I'm not hard at work making cool visuals for Tenno (the players of Warframe), I'm working on creating tools that will help you get to where you want to go faster. Whether it's classes on here, or scripts to automate the boring stuff. Stay tuned, there's more to come.

I'm here to help! Feel free to reach out on here or on my socials and there's potential that I'll stop looking at cat gifs and get back to ya!

Fun lil' post-script! I also have two donkeys named Clarence and Dewey.
