  • Description

Whether you’re planning a big project with a tight deadline or giving an important presentation, two things are usually true: you need to hit it out of the park and your stress levels have never been higher. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to optimize your performance output in times of stress. In this course, join instructor Bill Williams as he explores what happens when tension and high performance overlap. First, Bill explains what “high performance” means in this context and defines the habits of high performers, including how those individuals manage stress. Bill goes on to share tools for aligning your body, mind, and environment so that you can deliver consistently in any situation. You’ll leave this course with strategies for boosting your confidence and establishing high-performance habits—even when the stakes are high. This course was created by Madecraft. We are pleased to host this training in our library.

My career as a classical trumpeter, coach and teacher has provided me first-hand insight into the challenges of performing and learning. Whether you're a performing artist, a speaker or a leader tasked with making tough decisions, the ability to focus under pressure in real-time is key to success. Focus is also a driver of productivity and creativity. I'm passionate about empowering people to develop their focus abilities to thrive in demanding environments. I've performed with some of the world's leading ensembles as a principal trumpeter, chamber musician and soloist. My teaching has taken me around the world- I've served as a faculty member and presented masterclasses at conservatories and music festivals throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. My students and coaching clients have gone on to attain positions in many of the world's leading ensembles. On the creative/tech side, I've been a principal partner in the development of a leading online video platform for classical music education, MUSAIC. I've developed new models for connecting performers, audiences and ideas. I've collaborated with Google Creative Labs and YouTube to bring the YouTube Symphony, the world's first crowdsourced orchestra, to life onsite and online. YouTube Symphony events were held at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. The YouTube Symphony Grand Finale Concert in Sydney was the largest livestream YouTube made to that date, with a total of 33.5 million streams to computers and mobile devices. Languages: English (mother tongue), Spanish, German, some French. -30+ years as an internationally active classical trumpeter. -20+ year track record as a trumpet/chamber music faculty member and coach to emerging musicians. -Mentor for emerging musical and creative economy talent. -Faculty/visiting faculty at conservatories and music festivals internationally. -Conference Speaker/Facilitator. -TedX featured speaker.
