  • Description

Learn networking with Windows 10. This step-by-step course demonstrates how to connect a Windows 10 machine to an existing network and manage a variety of network settings. Instructor Joli Ballew shows you how to get connected to the internet, access network resources such as printers, and connect to Wi-Fi. Find out how to keep your system secure by configuring a basic firewall with Windows Defender. Joli reviews the security implications of different settings, so you can make informed decisions that help protect your computer when using public networks. Lastly, she explains the native firewall rules and shows how to create your own custom inbound and outbound rules. Finally, learn how to troubleshoot your network connection with command-line tools like ipconfig and PathPing.

Note: This course aligns to the Configure Networking domain from the Microsoft exam 70-697: Configuring Windows 10 Devices.

I am a prolific, technical, best-selling author of almost 60 books. I was a Microsoft MVP (10 years), Microsoft Certified Trainer (Alumni), technical editor, and technology trainer. I have earned quite a few Microsoft certifications including MCSE, MCTS (Windows 7 and Project 2007), and MCDST. I recently passed the first of two exams to become an MCSA in Windows 8. In addition to writing, I teach computer classes at Collin College in Plano, Texas, Microsoft certification classes at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, Texas, and I serve as the Microsoft IT Academy Coordinator there. I stay busy, but when I have down time I enjoy working out at the gym, taking care of my pets, and taking yoga classes. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (200-Hr). I sometimes teach yoga at senior centers and assisted living facilities. I want to teach others how to find their own path to peace and happiness - the way I have found my own way this past year.
