  • Description

    • The instructor introduces the class and discusses what will be covered in the lessons that follow.
    • Being conscious about what you are shooting is key to making images, not just taking pictures.
    • You want your viewer to connect with your subject and that has a lot to do with the subject’s eyes as well as your eye level.
    • We can’t pose wildlife, but we can take an active role in positioning ourselves for the best composition.
    • You’ve got to know your subject to be able to find them and show them at their best.
    • Capturing the subject in its environment provides a sense of place and creates a more compelling image.
    • Creating separation between the subject and other elements provides a clearer view of the subject and provides a sense of depth and dimension.
    • It is important to provide some space in front of your subject in the direction they are moving.
    • Compositional guidelines are basic, but can be a powerful tool for creating stronger compositions.
    • It is vital to take on the role of ambassador and advocate for the wildlife you are photographing.
