Who is this for?
More details
DescriptionData Analysis plays an important role in assisting researchers and students conducting quantitative research studies. However, some researchers and students have trouble identifying and understanding the appropriate types of statistics to use in data analysis when conducting research. This issue can cause errors in the findings of research studies they conduct. Taking this issue into account, a course titled Statistics for Social Science Research has been produced. The main objective of this course is to help researchers and students identify appropriate statistics to use in data analysis in their quantitative research.
The course titled Statistics for Social Science Research enables a user to master the following statistical knowledge and skills: -
1. Define statistics in research.
2. Distinguish between qualitative and quantitative types of research.
3. Identify the types of variables in research.
4. Classify variables in four different measurement scales.
5. Forming a hypothesis from a research question.
6. Applying descriptive statistics in research.
7. Choosing the appropriate statistical inference method for a research.
8. Conduct tests on hypotheses using inferential statistics. In carrying out the tests, the user should be able to: -
i. Differentiate between verbal (in the form of sentences) and symbolic (in the form of statistical symbols) hypotheses
ii. Identifying significant values and statistical test values.
iii. Interpreting results and drawing conclusions.
This course has several impacts on users as follows:-
a) Users can improve existing statistical skills that allow them to analyze data in research more effectively
b) Users can perform statistical applications in research more effectively.
c) Users can develop the use of descriptive and inferential statistics in research.
d) Users are more confident in themselves in choosing appropriate statistical methods in research.
Who this course is for:
- Quantitative Researchers intending to seek basic knowledge in statistics for research
