    Description

    Part 1

Follow my Read Music for Guitar - Beginners class and you'll be able to read guitar sheet music and play the notes on guitar. This easy string-by-string method focuses on 2 or 3 notes at a time on each string. Master one string, then move on to the next. With a little regular practice, you'll find yourself unconsciously knowing what to play when you see the notes.

This is a proven method developed while teaching guitar for (can you believe it?) over 20 years! Media content included with the course is taken from my 3-book series Guitar in Real Time. With a little routine practice, you'll experience the satisfaction of reading and playing music on guitar.

    What Exactly do you Learn?

    1. You learn the notes in what is called "1st position" on each string. That is the position where the 1st finger (index) of your fretting hand stays next to the nut.  The nut is the (usually beige colored) bone or hard plastic piece on the head of the guitar that the strings run over.

    2. In the course, you learn to read notes on the 5-line staff using the treble clef.

    3. You also get to know about -

      1. time signatures

      2. key signatures

      3. note durations

      4. rests

    Part 2

This second part focuses on strings 4 through 6. These are the lower pitched "bass" notes on guitar.

You will also get to know about -

    • a new time signature

    • 8th note rests

    • triplet notes

    • sharps and natural notes

    • rules for accidentals (sharps and flats)

    Extra Benefits

The extra benefits that you get with this course are basic fingerstyle guitar lessons. You can follow these lessons to develop a good fingerstyle foundation. Or, simply use any method of string picking that you prefer.

    Who this course is for:

    • Guitar beginners who also want to learn music reading
    • Anyone who wants to learn music reading and play the notes on guitar
    • Experienced guitar players who don't read music
    • Musicians who already read music but who want to know where the notes are on guitar

    Instructor's Courses
Back in 2000 I started to teach guitar to my kids.  That sparked a renewed interest in playing music again. I worked hard to regain my roots in classical guitar then started playing in bands again.  This time it was church bands.Since 2000 I've taught at private music studios, given group classes and in-home lessons.  I've also played regularly in church bands. Although my Bachelor's is in Engineering, I've taken private lessons with various top music professionals. I also worked on my theory and passed 12-credits at Berklee College's online campus to gain a Music Theory Certificate . As well as playing and teaching guitar, I wrote a 3-book guitar method series. The books called "Guitar in Real Time" cover multiple genres, music reading and essential theory, as well as basic music composition.   All of the essentials are there for students to gain a well rounded introduction to guitar and music. My Udemy course, "Read Music for Guitar - Beginners"  is based on the reading exercises of the Level 1  book. Other Udemy courses I've created also take content from those books and expand on it. Music is my passion and I especially enjoy teaching young people, who I try to have a positive influence on. This Udemy format is excellent because it forces me to work at presenting things in the best possible way for others to understand. I'm happy to share what I have to offer with others who are as passionate about this instrument as I am.
Students take courses primarily to improve job-related skills. Some courses generate credit toward technical certification. Udemy has made a special effort to attract corporate trainers seeking to create coursework for employees of their company.
