Putting It in the Pocket Explained®

Description
Studio guru Larry Holcombe presents an in-depth video guide to putting instruments "in the pocket"! Learn everything you need to know about placing instruments and grooves ahead or behind the beat, making things groove, and much more! Course extras include downloadable loops and wav files that appear in the tutorials so you can follow along.
Larry starts by defining "in the pocket", and how once you've got it right, everything feels great and groovy. He then shows the differences between quantization and live playing, and using different swing values to inject a feeling of groove and shuffle into your beats.
Next, you'll explore how syncopation works in production, and bringing parts forward and backwards to create a more rushed or a more laid-back feel. Natural velocity and tone are then investigated and you'll see how recreate this when programing things to induce some funk into your parts.
For the rest of the series you'll explore topics like groove templates and extracting groove, sidechaining to increase groove, musical compression, polyrhythms, and putting it all together to create a truly "in the pocket" groove.
See the individual tutorial descriptions for more info. If you want to know how and why some tracks groove hard and the steps to take to put your own tracks in the pocket, this is the series for you... Watch "Putting It in the Pocket Explained®" today and watch the heads nod.

I learned a lot in these tutorials. The groove of a track is now an area with a lot more possibility than I previously could ever have imagined. Lots of insight to be found here, super stuff!

I completed creating your first song in Reaper earlier today. I got putting it in the pocket gratis and I just completed watching it as well. It clarify how to make a redundant beat more interesting by adding and subtracting other sounds that hold their own. Not to mention they make rhythmic sense once they are combined. Maybe because I’m new, I’m easily impressed but the instructor was top notch 5 ??’s
It was a great tutorial that helped me to understand how to add more human feel to a production, other than just typical groove engine presets. Multiple light bulbs went off during this tutorial series.

I am newcomer to computer drum and instrument programing and mixing. This course has helped me cut time looking for drum loops and such and given me the confidence to program my own grooves and mixes. This video has been invaluable in the use of my own score writing. Thanks Groove3.

My "Pocket" knowledge is vastly improved. I learned several new approaches to use during my DAW recording sessions. Thank you for the calm, relaxed and very well explained lesson(s) regarding this topic.
I found I knew most of this.... it's the 80/20. However, I got some insight into the 20 part! ? Since, I use Cubase and Cubase is fantastic with MIDI and not all of the points made translated easily, I found. Some parts were confusing and not clearly stated or I got confused. I will watch it all again as I think it is important to learn to turn what is essentially a machine groove into a human groove. For the price I paid, which was a sale price, great value!

This course is well done and flows from beginning to end. Explanations are clear. While it has several Logic only plugins, it still was helpful for me (non Logic user).

Groovy, man, groovy! The title says it all.
I would have like to have sent a section on where to put the bass and kick together in wave form and aligning
