  • Description

This course provides an in-depth review of the new Lightning Web Component programming model with attention paid to helping map an existing understanding of Aura components onto the concepts that exist in the new framework programming model.

    What You'll Learn?

Play by Play is a series in which top technologists work through a problem in real time, unrehearsed, and unscripted. In this course, Play by Play: Understanding Lightning Web Components for Salesforce Developers, Chuck Liddell and Don Robins treat the topic like an onion, peeling back one layer at time. First they introduce Lightning Web Components (LWC) conceptually, and then demo some simple syntax and examples. Next, they dig into conversation around comparing and contrasting Aura versus LWCs, delve into more abstract concepts and advanced thinking, and finally explore some quite complex use cases in Aura and how they apply (or not) in LWCs. By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid understanding of the new Lightning Web Component model, how you can preserve any investment in the existing Aura Component model, and when you would leverage each model in your Salesforce application development.

    Instructor's Courses
Chuck comes from the trenches of enterprise Salesforce development. A developer and consultant on the platform for the last decade, he holds 21 Salesforce certifications and is a Salesforce MVP. Entrepreneurial by nature, he took his most recent startup, Valence, an ISV with a native integration product on the AppExchange through the inaugural batch of the Salesforce Incubator. First and foremost a technology architect, Chuck focuses on communication: between technical and business teams, disparate technology stacks and systems, different layers of an enterprise architecture. He is constantly innovating and pushing the Salesforce platform to do novel, clever things in real-world projects. Having two professors as parents, Chuck comes to education naturally and even worked as an adjunct professor teaching graduate students at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Chuck sees education as a service to his community, a way to give back and serve others. He is a regular speaker and organizer at Dreamforce and other Salesforce-centric conferences, as well as at a variety of other technology conferences and events. Chuck is also group leader for the Salesforce Hawaii User Group. When not on the road at conferences and teaching, Chuck can be found at home in Honolulu where he runs his ISV business and serves on the selection and mentor committee for the Honolulu-based Blue Startups accelerator.
