Playful Painting in Procreate

Join me for a fun paint-with-me style class! In less than 2 hours, you can paint an entire acrylic style painting on your iPad.

Yes, you! You can do this.

Who Is This Class For: This class is for anyone who would like to expand their painting and art-making skills in Procreate. Through experimentation and putting paint to canvas, you will increase your confidence tremendously! Some experience with Procreate will be helpful but you do not need to be an experienced painter.

You Will Learn How To:

set up a canvas
use a paper texture that gives a real painting feel
use a reference photo in different ways
paint an entire scene by breaking it down and using strategic layers
experiment with brushes
use blend modes to enhance your painting
make fun color adjustments to a painting

After you learn these painting skills, you can go on to paint your own scenes that you can use to decorate your space, gift to a loved one, or even sell! The sky is the limit.

About Your Teacher:

Hey, I'm Melanie! I am a professional artist and educator. I love to create happy, whimsical art for picture books, coloring books, pattern designs, and more! I used to teach those in-person paint night events for years and I decided why not try to teach that kind of painting digitally in procreate?!?

Painting by the light of the moon.

Ok, fine… it’s actually a daylight lamp but I liked the sound of “painting by the light of the moon” better.

Most evenings, you can find me painting, coloring, or creating on my over-sized teacher’s desk in my living room while watching some new guilty pleasure on Netflix. I create coloring books, stickers, clip art, picture book illustrations, watercolor paintings, and so much more. I just love to create and I want to be your creative cheerleader too.

My favorite motifs are usually inspired by the natural world and my childhood with a whimsical twist. I love ALLLLL the colors… but I keep finding my way back to pinks, aqua, and turquoise. You just can’t help but smile when that combo is on your paper!
