In this course, expert producer and engineer Scott Hirsch covers all the essentials of Logic, the flagship audio application from Apple. Scott starts with the setup and workflow, then shows how to record audio, work with Session Players, and use MIDI and virtual instruments. He discusses how to use samples and loops, and shows how to conform their time and pitch to better fit a song. Next, Scott covers editing and arranging techniques for both audio and MIDI data. Moving deeper into the program, Scott explains how to work with music notation and video files, then wraps up the course with extensive information on mixing, working in surround, and finishing up a project.

    Instructor's Courses
Scott Hirsch is a recording and mix engineer, sound designer, and musician. After starting out in post-production at BAVC in San Francisco, Scott relocated to New York City in 2007, where he honed his craft as a film sound designer. As he obtained a master’s degree focused on spatialized audio in post-production at New York University, Scott embedded himself as a sound fixture among the New York independent film scene. While moonlighting in a 5th Avenue commercial post-house (Creative Media Design), Scott edited, sound designed, and mixed films by directors Rick Alverson, Joe Wladyka, Trey Edward Shultz, Andrew Renzi, Sam Fleischner, Pamela Romanowsky, Matthew Porterfield, Francis Bodomo,Adam Rapp, Lawrence Michael Levine, Jonathan Caouette, Chris Mason Johnson, Lucy Walker, and many more. These films played and won multiple awards at the Cannes, Sundance, Berlinale, Tribeca, and SXSW festival circuit with the films Scott worked on over the last seven years. After obtaining his masters degree, Scott went on to teach multiple courses in sound at NYU. Scott is also a musician and music producer, and in 2014 recorded a Grammy nominated album by folk legend Alice Gerrard. His first solo record Blue Rider Songs was released in August, 2016, and his follow up, Lost Time Behind the Moon in December, 2018. He has also performed on and produced four full length albums and several eps by band Hiss Golden Messenger. Scott is a firm believer in sharing his knowledge and experience through education. He has taught as an adjunct professor at NYU's Steinhardt music technology program, as well as Stephen F. Austin University's music and media department and continues to be involved in both programs. Scott is an active author of audio related courses on Linkedin Learning.
