    Description

This course mainly discuss about computational fluid dynamic using smoothed-particles hydrodynamic (SPH) method. Theory behind the method will be briefly touched to make the learner understand why certain simulation parameters were chosen. Upon the completion of this course, the learner is expected to be able to download and install all of the free-to-use software, make the model and choose correct simulation parameters, visualize the simulated flow, and animate the flow using Blender. SPH is a Lagrangian mesh-free CFD tools that gain popularity recently, either in the academic community or in the creative industry due to it's ability to simulate complex fluid movement. In general, in Lagrangian (meshless) approach, the fluids are simulated as particles and the flow motions are described as particles trajectory. Because particles are not confined within a volume mesh, Lagrangian approach is more suitable for simulation where there is a high level of flow deformation, such as breaking wave. This method, furthermore, can be combined with visual animation software called Blender to create a more realistic view of wave-structure interaction.

In this course you will be able to:

    1. edit the geometry model of your simulation

    2. set up the correct simulation parameters value

    3. run an SPH simulation

    4. View the velocity flow field using Paraview

    5. render a more realistic view of the wave-structure interaction using blender

My name is Kris and I am a researcher from Princeton University mainly working on fluid dynamic related experiments. For me there is nothing more rewarding than sharing our knowledge with younger generations and seeing their interest and curiosity grow and, in return, learning back from them through their questions and points of views. My teaching interests include teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in wave-structure interaction, mechanics of ocean wave, fluid dynamics, and computer-aided fluid simulation. I believe that knowledge is a thing that can be widened by sharing it with other people, not by keeping it in to oneself. Because of this, a teacher is a very privileged position that can help shape the future of youth and, ultimately, the world. This is true either from in front of a class room in a University or from a random person's computer in the internet.
Students take courses primarily to improve job-related skills. Some courses generate credit toward technical certification. Udemy has made a special effort to attract corporate trainers seeking to create coursework for employees of their company.
