Dr Shan Shan Hou is an engaging, committed and creative teacher and researcher with strong communication skills, a passion for teaching, and a proven track record of developing and delivering highly effective educational programmes, materials and assessments for undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals at Universities in the UK and internationally.In searching for the answer to why some people can learn things quickly and afterwards remember it all with ease, Shan Shan transformed herself from an average student to a top student within one term. It all happened in 1999 when she recognised the missing link between her learning and her performance.This missing link is how to learn. Ever since Shan Shan discovered it, she has been fascinated with traditional and modern practices that empower learning. And she has realised that the key to high performance is understanding how the brain works to use it effectively. She loves sharing what she has learned to help others.She wrote the book Study Smart at University for all university students. In addition, she developed the Complete Your PhD on Time with Joy Course and the 5 Mistakes You should Never Make When You're Doing Your PhD Course, and designed the Complete Your PhD Planner to assist all PhD candidates in staying in control during their journey.
