Rob Gray

Rob is a highly competent media professional with skills in broadcast television, digital film and digital media. He founded CitiVarsity Film, Television & Multimedia School. He was the technical operations manager for Cape Town TV (CTV) and took the station from a domestic technical environment to full broadcast specification and improved production techniques in line with other broadcasters such as the SABC. He also helped Cape Town TV (CTV) acquire a learnership program with SETA accreditation.Ever the innovator and visionary, Rob has been at the cutting edge of broadcast media for many years. He has been involved in various projects including training of SABC staff, consulting for Botswana government where he helped set up and take Botswana National Broadcast Television (BTV) to air.His career kicked off at the South African Broadcasting Corporation where he worked in radio and then joined television at inception to South Africa. He worked as a broadcast engineer for 20 years and thereafter he was a television producer with shows such as ‘Inside Sport’ featured on Top Sport SABC, as well as producing and directing various documentaries, corporate videos and working as director of photography for film. He is a well-organised creative, skilled in scriptwriting, directing, camerawork, video editing, photography and photoshop.Rob holds HND in electrical engineering from Johannesburg University and national certificate OD-ETDP (Occupationally Directed Education Training & Development Practice). He has extensive television broadcast, film and training experience and has worked in the fields of photography and print design. He is also a registered SDF (Skills Development Facilitator) for Cape Town TV as well as an Assessor and Moderator for MICT SETA. Rob is also recognized by SACIA as a broadcast professional Engineer through the IBA.Rob’s unique combination of technical, creative, management, and production experience are well suited to carry the mantle as producer/director, consultant, and facilitator in the fields of film and television
