About Instructor
Our Purpose is People - Loved that statement from UKG. It's what drew me here and it's what galvanizes me every day. My personal purpose statement - written 20 years ago - is completely in line with this sentiment. But why write a purpose statement?
I was asked what my "tag line" was as a leader. What do I stand for? How am I motivated? I never really thought about that as a tag line but more of my internal compass. I didn't have a simple statement ready. ( I am Irish so I speak in stories ;) ) But after that probe from my CEO at the time, I gave this a lot of thought one night...What was MY elevator pitch? I soon realized that having a simple clear statement helped both me and my organizations as we built amazing cultures. It was our compass.
Here is what I wrote on my white board:
"I need to leave the world better than I found it,
to be kind,
to give more than I get,
to make a difference."
If I can help even one person be better off for having me in their lives, I feel fulfilled.
What is your purpose?
