About Instructor

I have a BSc (1993) and PhD (1999) in Geography from the University of Nottingham, UK. For my PhD I undertook research into river erosion in Mississippi, USA. This project was sponsored by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). I subsequently gained a variety of contract projects associated with river engineering through both the USACE and US Department of Agriculture. After that I held a position as a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the School of the Built Environment at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. The research in this post was directed towards predicting and modelling blockages at structures such as culverts and bridges. More recently I worked as an undergraduate course lecturer in river geomorphology and open channel hydraulics at the University of Nottingham Malaysia campus in Kuala Lumpur. I currently work as a freelance river analyst and am based in Nottingham, UK.
