Jennifer Nicoll Victor

About Instructor

Jennifer Nicoll Victor is an Associate Professor of Political Science at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government. She holds a PhD and an MA in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. She also received a BA magna cum laude in Political Science from the University of California San Diego. For almost a decade, she taught at the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Professor of Political Science.

 

Dr. Victor studies the US Congress, legislative organization and behavior, social network methods, political parties, campaign finance, organized interest groups, and lobbying. She is a coeditor of The Oxford Handbook of Political Networks and the coauthor of Bridging the Information Gap: Legislative Member Organizations as Social Networks in the United States and the European Union. Her research has been published in several journals, including the American Journal of Political Science, the British Journal of Political Science, and PS: Political Science and Politics. In 2019, she was awarded George Mason University’s Teaching Excellence Award.

 

Dr. Victor’s public scholarship has also appeared in The New York Times, The Conversation, the OUPblog (Oxford University Press’s blog), and USAPP (the London School of Economics and Political Science’s blog on US politics and policy). She is a past president of the National Capital Area Political Science Association and a past chair of the Political Networks section of the American Political Science Association.
