I am a lifelong business strategist, innovator and business designer, with a passion for human insight, bold ideas, and turning those game-changing ideas into business. I am devoted to empowering innovators and entrepreneurs to realize their ambitions through the practice of business design - a discipline that combines human-centred design and business strategy. In 2005, I built on my 25-year track record of growing businesses at Procter & Gamble and creative service agencies, and brought these worlds together in academia, where I led development of the disciplined practice of business design for 7 years. In 2012, I opened a bespoke consultancy (Vuka Innovation) to apply that know-how in helping organizations unlock their innovation potential through the practice of business design. Over my 15 years in academia and consulting, I advised organizations around the world on how to put business design to work for them and taught over 5,000 enterprise teams and students. This learning is captured in the advanced second edition of my book, Design Works: A Guide to Creating & Sustaining Value through Business Design. That was the foundation for the ultimate quest: To democratize innovation and entrepreneurship and help more innovators and entrepreneurs by digitizing that knowledge and know-how in an advanced, user-friendly interactive platform. In 2018, we built our first product, Vuka Works - a massively scalable do-it-yourself business design tool for anyone who wants to turn their inspired idea into business. In a world of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity), I believe one letter changes the way we head into the future. VUKA (with a K) is a Zulu word that means 'to awaken and stir into action'. That's the spirit of everything I do.
