Edmund Fitzpatrick

About Instructor

Edmund Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., is the former president of a Coca Cola subsidiary that provided project management services internationally. He began as a systems engineer, progressed to manager of small and large projects, and then became a senior executive. Some years later he left the corporate world to accept an appointment to the National Defense University, where for ten years he was responsible for creating and presenting CIO and project management courses. As a recognized expert in the field, he also served as a consultant on technology acquisition and management to the senior leadership at the pentagon, for which he was honored with a medal from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff for his contributions. In addition, he served as an adjunct professor for fifteen years at the Graduate School of the University of Maryland Global Campus, responsible for developing and teaching courses in project management. He also was a visiting lecturer at the Harvard Business School and taught a technology management course at the U.S. Naval Academy. He is the author of many publications, including books on IT portfolio management, computer programming, and giving presentations. For eight years, he wrote a technology management column for a national financial journal. He received an MA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business and a Ph.D. from The Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
