About Instructor

Hi, I'm Chimmy - a designer who creates digital products people want, use and recommend. I started my career as a consultant software engineer, then switched to design almost a decade ago. I'm the pragmatic designer, delivering impact efficiently by empowering engineers to iterate quickly. As a designer, I wear two hats. By day, I work at Triptease - delivering scalable B2B products that grow hoteliers' share of direct revenue. And the rest of the time, I do selective freelance work with founders, startups and organisations to identify what MVP they should ship. I'm passionate about helping designers and giving back to the design community. I write the love+design newsletter to share design observations, have given many UX podcast interviews and have written two LinkedIn learning courses (Sketch Essentials and Practical Accessibility). I also speak at conferences and meetups. My favourite talks have been "Accessibility is a dirty word" | AIGA design conference 2019 and "How to build inclusive products" | Women driven development conference in 2020. It doesn't stop with corporations. I also help designers hone their craft - offering 1:1 and group mentoring sessions on how to make accessibility part of the design process, how to improve your process and deliverables, and how to be more strategic/product-y. I also help non-designers transition into design - through mentoring or via the UX fundamentals workshops I facilitate via the School of UX. One of the attendees of a session on Wireframing in XD said this about me: "I loved it! Chimmy was awesome!! I have done a few wireframe projects, because my boss asked me to, and I sort of had to just teach myself, through adobe tutorials. Today’s class blew those away. Like with Chimmy, everything made sense, plus I learned a lot more stuff. I really enjoyed it. Also, she had some amazing tricks to share. I haven’t taken advantage of the actual power of XD before." Another person described the Practical accessibility course as "the best course I've found on how designers can influence accessibility in UX." Ready to connect?
