Alyssa Lowery and Madecraft

I'm a philosopher currently teaching at Vanderbilt University. My education changed my life, and making that possible for others through accessible, engaging, and challenging educational materials and experiences drives me forward. On the research front, I love talking about virtue ethics (what it means to be a good person), the meaning of life (great casual dinner conversation material), and what it means for something to count as a "religion" (especially when how we define it has legal repercussions). I'm always interested in opportunities to keep philosophizing in different contexts or in public humanities projects.
