  • Description

ChatGPT and generative AI systems are incredibly powerful tools, but how do they work? In this course, learn about ChatGPT—and the vector search powering it. Compared to traditional keyword search, vector search yields more relevant results and executes faster by retrieving objects based on similarity. Instructor Kirsten Hunter starts off with an examination of the basics of vector search, detailing search terms, use cases, and a basic application using vector search. Kirsten then takes a look at ChatGPT—what it is, how it works, what you can accomplish with it—and offers a challenge task for some hands-on experience. She also shows you how to create and use a basic Q&A engine and explores some different machine learning tools like Cassio and MindsDB.

Recruiters: DO NOT CALL ME. Inmail is fine. Datastax community: * Created and delivered workshops (mostly building different apps with node, or existing workshops) * Answered questions in chat during workshops and in Discord * Created Katakodas for httpie-astra and node-stargate (now defunct of course) DataStax Sample Applications * Netlify Example Application, with REST/GraphQL/Document API examples * astra-setup python client, reducing setup time for workshops from 30 minutes to 10 * astra-httpie command line interface to astra APIs * Created code-tour repositories for github for self-directed and workshop use with clickable steps * Created cqlsh github repository for use by workshops and documentation LinkedIn Learning Instructor Authored/delivered several courses for LinkedIn Learning * 3 courses on mongodb * How to be a polymath * Deploying Applications in Node.js * Intro to Cassandra (in post production now) Recruiters: Please read this before contacting me with opportunities: * I am a fantastic Developer Evangelist. I am excellent at speaking to groups and individuals, as well as writing. * I write good, task based documentation and example code - I am driven to help developers be successful and am always looking at ways to improve the experience for those users. * I dislike Google-style puzzle interviews (although I love puzzles, and I'm a great engineer!) If you don't want to hire me to do what I'm great at, please don't even reach out. I promise I'm clever and can solve problems in ways you'd never imagine. * My communication/coaching/writing/speaking skills are also fantastic. * I'd like to move to Switzerland * Telecommuting is important enough to me that I left a position with an very lucrative stock position in order to achieve the work situation I wanted. I am most productive when I do focused work from home. * I require a strong salary and excellent health care. I see you, tiny startups wanting an evangelist, and I feel for you, but I must have good benefits. So, having said that, if you think you have a position compelling enough to talk about, feel free to reach out. I'd like to find a position where more of my skills are leveraged.
