About This Class
In this Skillshare class, you’ll learn how to use native Procreate elements to create a natural painted look, without having to buy any new brushes. You already have everything you need within Procreate. This is a class suitable for beginners looking to get comfortable with procreate, or anyone looking to learn how to recreate a traditional media feel. By the end of the class, you will be able to make your own paper texture, learn how to create a natural painted look, and have a printed piece of artwork.
What You Will Learn
I’ll walk you through how to create a solid foundation for your digital painting in order for it to feel more realistic, through paper textures, brush textures, and blending modes.
I’ve broken down the process into 5 lessons, covering how to create your own paper texture, sketching out your flower, how to use the native procreate brushes to replicate a natural painted look, how to add fun details and flowers, and how to best use the blending modes to create some more depth within your piece.
As an added bonus, I'll walk you through the best practices for printing your artwork to give as a gift or to keep for yourself, with a downloadable guide where I share all my printing tips.

Instructor's CoursesHello, I'm so glad you are here! My name is Jennifer and I'm an artist and illustrator inspired to paint the beauty of the wilderness and wildlife of my home here in the Pacific Northwest. My artwork reflects my love of color and the joy I feel in the natural world.
I love living near the mountains and the ocean. As a native of Seattle, both the lush mountains and the beautiful placid Puget Sound have been a constant in my life. My dad would take me fishing, hunting for chanterelle mushrooms, and backpacking through the Cascades and the wild Olympic mountains. I would spend weeks on a boat with a friend, exploring the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.
I love experimenting with new mediums; however, my favorites are watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pen and ink, and painting/sketching digitally in Procreate on an iPad. I thoroughly enjoy working digitally because I can combine techniques and textures between mediums, and present them in new and unique ways. I can set the iPad down and pick it back up where I left off, a very important aspect when you are a parent of busy boys! Digital painting brings everything I love about acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media onto one page at my fingertips.
