    Description

Imagine this... You are sitting at your work station and you see, across the room, a visitor from the United States, dressed in a white shirt and cream-colored tie, who has come to your country and company to inspect operations on behalf of the main office. You've been studying English for a while, but have had little contact with native English speakers. As you watch, the gentleman approaches you. You become a little nervous. Then, he catches your gaze and says, "Excuse me. Where can I find the washrooms?" You are caught off guard. Translated verbs and nouns fight for attention in your head, and you manage to only say, "Ahhh... hmmm..."  The visitor, seeing your confusion, then says, "That's all right. Thanks anyway," and walks away. You have blown your chance to shine, your chance to impress not only the visitor but also your work colleagues. Oh well.

This Course will help make sure that such an experience does NOT happen to you. Using a realistic layout of an office building, you'll learn how to give directions to various locations within the workplace. You'll learn:

    • How to give short and clear directions to an office, a conference room, an exit, a parking lot, the smoking area, the washrooms, the cafeteria, etc.

    • Conversational skills as all of the directions are couched within a typical conversation - from start to finish.

    • By giving directions, you will also become skilled at understanding directions that someone may give to you.
