"The overall concept of the book and its approach are both awesome. I believe a book like this is radical and highlights the common mistakes made during the AI project development. I like the tricks provided by the author concerning the evaluation of an AI project." --Nikos Kanakaris, Mission-X, University of Patras

"This is an enlightening, useful and rare book. It helps you to avoid common pitfalls on AI projects in industry. It connects the concepts with practical examples (and also existing cases in industry). "There is a huge vacuum in the Industry with Managers and BusinessLeaders trying to apply Data Science without structured thinking orprocess in terms of identifying problems that require a an ML/AIsolution to add value to the business, or an understanding of the DataScience process. Krunic has produced a much needed book for the benefitof Business Leaders, Managers and Decision Makers. I would definitely be making all my C-team colleagues read this text before venturing intoML/AI projects so as to have realistic expectations and practicalexpectations." --Madhavan Ramani, Bueno Pty Ltd
"This is a great approach to doing AI better than what we see today in the field. Almost all of AI starts with gut feel and a lack of real business value understanding. It seems to be focused more on saying we are "doing AI" or we are an "AI" company. This ensures we aren't just spending money for optics, but making an actual positive impact on the business." --Jason Rendel, PKWARE Inc

From the Author
Thank you for your interest in Succeeding with AI.
AI is in a lot of the news these days. For all of the great possibilities that AI is bringing to the table, not all of the AI projects running right now are doing well, and non-trivial percentage of the AI projects that are in progress would not deliver business results you are hoping for. Reason is that technical knowledge about AI algorithms isn't enough to get business results using AI.
If industry is to benefit from AI, data science, and ML, then we need to explore the best practices of applying them to business problems. I have written this book to help you manage an AI project so that it would succeed.
Readers of this book are project leaders of AI projects who are focused on delivering business results and who view technology as a vehicle to deliver those results. Such a reader needs the following qualification:
- You have been part of the leadership team of a successful software project.
- You understand the basics of the business your organization is in, on the level commensurate with the position you are occupying in the hierarchy of your organization.
- Whatever software development methodology you're using, you must understand how your organization manages software development.
- You have experience with using business metrics to score the success of a business initiative.
- If you have business background, you must be willing to learn basic engineering concept.
My focus in covering any AI methods isn't on the technology, but on how to use technology to achieve business results. If your interest in business is limited, and your main interest is in AI methods and algorithms, this is not a book for you.
Thank you once again for your interest!
