Welcome to this course designed to teach engineers and construction management professionals the basics of contract management and construction contracts. The course covers all of the fundamentals you'll need to walk away with a good understanding of construction contracts. The course is broken down into four sections.
Section 1 covers the basics of construction contracts and introduces you to what contracts are, why they are a critical part of the construction industry and the basics of them.Â Section 2 dives into the detail of what construction contracts contain. In this section we look at all the specific requirements around time, cost, quality, security, and more. We take you through all these concepts in extensive detail. Sections 3 and 4 go through head contracts and sub-contracts respectively. In each of these sections, we cover the types of contracts, contract formation, and administration, risk management as well as claims and disputes.
The course is loaded with practice activities to reinforce your learnings. Every section has a quiz to reinforce your learnings as well as practice activities where you will need to apply the content you've learned The course focuses on the perspective of head contractors. These are the large contractors' governments typically engage to complete major infrastructure projects. The skills and understanding are universal however and can be applied across the construction industry.
