    Description

Study Materials for Passing IPv6 Forum CNE6 Silver Exam, based on the official curriculum as found on the IPv6 Forum website under "education".

Basics of IPv6, addressing architecture, packet structure, ICMPv6 and Neighbor Discovery, Transition Mechanisms, Demos.

Intended for advanced Computer Science and Networking students, in-service professionals, etc.

Assumes some knowledge of IPv4 network engineering, no prior certifications required.

Instructor is an IPv6 Forum Gold Certified Trainer who has been teaching IPv6 for 20+ years internationally.

He has spoken at numerous international IPv6 and PKI conferences.

IPv6 is the official IETF successor protocol to IPv4, which has been in use since 1983. IPv4 had 32-bit addresses and ran out of public addresses in 2011 at the top (IANA) level, then at all five Regional Internet Registries in the next few years. There are now very few IPv4 public addresses available. IPv6 has 128-bit addresses, for 340 trillion, trillion, trillion possible addresses. It eliminates the need for Network Address Translation and RFC 1918 private addresses which have caused numerous problems with the IPv4 Internet. IPv6 was specified in 1995, but major adoption began in 2014. It is now at 50-70% in various countries, especially in telcos. 5G telephony is the "grand convergence" of global telephony with the IPv6 Internet.
