    Description

    The course deals with Cardiac Arrhythmias in two parts. This is Part 2 of the course which deals with the various types of blocks. The Bundle branch blocks, the Fascicular Blocks, Atrioventricular Blocks are discussed in detail with examples. A miscellaneous group of arrhythmias comprising Sinoatrial blocks, Echo beat, Intraventricular conduction defects, Parasystole, Brugada Syndrome and Wellen’s Sign are also discussed.

    An ECG Quiz on Cardiac Arrhythmias is included in the end of the course for a self-assessment by the student.

    All the arrhythmias have been dealt with in detail and the causes of the arrhythmias elaborated whenever needed. The ECG criteria for the diagnosis of complex arrhythmias like Bundle branch blocks and Fascicular blocks have been explained in simple terms, easily understood by the learner.

    Wherever needed diagrams have been provided and ECGs are also included for clarity.

    I am Dr. K. V. Sahasranam, MBBS, MD (General Medicine), DM (Cardiology).  I have a basic medical degree MBBS from India, a Post Graduate degree MD in General Medicine from India and a DM (Doctor of Medicine) degree in Cardiology from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, India. I have been a faculty in Cardiology at the Medical College, Calicut, India, till 1992 where I was the Professor of Cardiology. I left for the United Arab Emirates and worked as a Specialist Cardiologist there till 1997. From then till 2022, I have been serving as a Senior Consultant Cardiologist in a Multispecialty hospital in India, in the state of Kerala in India. From 2013 till my retirement in 2022, I have been the Chief of Medical Services in the hospital.My duties, in addition to treating cardiac patients, has been teaching Cardiology to Post graduate medical residents of the departments of Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Anesthesiology in the hospital, and Nurses in the Nursing college attached to the hospital. This included didactic lectures, case presentations, on site training in the Cardiac Intensive care unit. Teaching medical students has always been my passion. My special interest has been teaching ECG Interpretation to the medical students and nurses.
