  • Description

Larry Holcombe brings you a comprehensive Behringer Odyssey video tutorial series! Learn all about the Behringer Odyssey, a super-affordable homage to the legendary 1970s ARP Odyssey synth. This series is structured like a video manual and is perfect for users just starting out with the Odyssey.

Larry greats you and then jumps right in with an introduction to the Odyssey and its history, as well as an overview of its basic layout, including the options on the back panel. Then it's on to the Odyssey's VCO section and how they work, including the Sample & Hold parameter, followed by an in-depth look at the Odyssey's LFOs, Filter and Amp sections, and powerful FX by designed by Klark-Teknik.

Next, Larry reveals the arpeggiator and Sequencing features of the Odyssey where you can program your own arpeggiations and synth lines, which will make for groovy parts for your songs. Last but not least, Larry gives you 2 sound design videos where you'll see how to craft cool Bass patches and FX from scratch, utilizing many of the Odysseys unique features and functions.

To see what these in-depth Behringer Odyssey tutorials show you, and how they'll help you to understand the Odyssey's layout and get the most from it, see the individual Odyssey video tutorial descriptions on this page. There are many things our users love about Groove3, but a couple always stand out at the top when asked why people choose us as their learning resource.

We meticulously craft professional quality tutorials that are thoughtful, informative and done with attention to detail. We stand behind our products with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and are trusted by 1000s of users every day.

Our library brings over 1700 hours of quality instruction to you fingertips and we release new content every week. Don't waste your valuable time scouring the web for information you may never find or is cumbersome to use and potentially can't be trusted.

This is otherwise quite a good tutorial, unfortunately it completely leaves out any discussion of 2 critical areas. It's a Duophonic synth...but it gives you no explaination of how to acheive Duophony , nor any examples of how it works and how to play it in this mode! Secondly he teaches nothing about Tuning the Arp. The machine can and will need to be tuned using the adjustments beneath the rubber caps...but there is complete silence about that !!! He plays the vco 1 slider and also makes no mention of the fact that tuning is affected by the sliders ...you might make a lovely sound moving them...but they will be out of tune with other instruments. As he says this is a video for novices...but he says nothing about such crucial and important facts...or anything about ways to overcome these issues. I find this to be quite mind boggling as ommissions go. I am still trying to figure out these problems..something the video should have done.

    Needed information for use.

Easy to follow step by step explanation of the workings and possibilities of Behringer‘s Odyssey. Fun to follow and try out the sounds.

This was a great introduction to the Odyssey and especially to Behringer's wonderful version of it. I had a bit of trouble adopting to the Arp paradigm, as opposed to the Moog paradigm, which is just different enough to make the shift confusing. After watching the video I feel that I can better move my way around the instrument when working towards a particular sound. Also, I now truly appreciate the brilliance of Arp's design! Laurence Holcombe does a wonderful job of pointing out the various sections and how they work together, as well as covering Behringer's additions such as the Klark-Teknik effects section and the arpeggiator/sequencer. The videos are just in-depth enough with enough information to get you going, but short enough not to mire things down. These videos will get you quickly in and out while giving you the tools you need to take full advantage of what this synth has to offer. Many thanks to Groove 3 for making them available and to Larry for a job well done.
