Hello and welcome to ENGL 3010H: Band 7.0 IELTS Writing Preparation!
My name is Ryan Newman and I have been preparing students for the IELTS exam, both online and in person, for six years. I have helped students from all around the world and of a variety of ages and proficiency levels to prepare for the speaking, listening, writing and reading sections of the test.
This course will help you to back the jump from Band 6.0 to Band 7.0 in terms of coherence, vocabulary, grammar and cohesion. This course will touch on concepts which include, but are not limit to, the following:

Word choice and collocations
Punctuation
Formal, informal and semiformal registers
Compound sentences
Complex sentences
Conjunctive adverbs
Parts of speech
Common writing errors
Four-paragraph essay structure
Introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs
Summarizing
Paraphrasing
Useful test preparation strategies

The course consists of 15 modules, each with an accompanying powerpoint presentation, lecture and optional activities. A core objective of this video course is for you to not only improve your IELTS-based skills but also to further develop your writing skills in general so that you could both learn, use and remember the concepts. This will be done through exposure to real-world tasks along with IELTS-specific tasks.
