Shalin Hai-Jew

About the Author

Shalin Hai-Jew works as an instructional designer (and researcher / data analyst) for Kansas State University. She has worked on a number of federally (and locally) funded and other projects, mostly in science-related areas.She has B.A.s in English and psychology, an M.A. in English (from the University of Washington, which she tested into at 14 and entered at 15) and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (from Seattle University in 2005, where she was a Morford Scholar). She taught at universities in the People's Republic of China from 1988 - 1990 and 1992 - 1994, the latter two years through the United Nations Volunteer Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She worked as a Faculty Fellow for The Boeing Company for two consecutive summers to create trainings on distance learning (in early days of online teaching and learning). She was a tenured faculty member at Shoreline Community College (in communications, multimedia design, and research writing). She has taught at the university and college levels for many years. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, in the U.S. Currently, Dr. Hai-Jew reviews for a number of publications for various publishing companies (Routledge, Elsevier, IGI Global, Wiley, SAGE, Springer, and others). In 2021, she has several books slated for publication, one related to peer-to-peer teaching and learning, and one about career reinvention in the post-pandemic era. She is also working on an edited text titled "Common Visual Art in a Social Digital Age" (with Nova Science Publishers). Her first open-access e-book was published by New Prairie Press and is available at https://kstatelibraries.pressbooks.pub/socialworldsensing/. She has an authored text on peer entertainment for Nova Science Publishers that is scheduled for publication in 2023. IGI Global is releasing an edited text titled "Handbook of Research on Revisioning and Reconstructing Higher Education After Global Crises" in 2023. While she has written a number of research and creative works under byline, she has also written academic writing and analyzed data for grant-funded research projects without byline. She has slideshows from recent conferences in SlideShare, ScholarSpace, New Prairie Press, and Adobe Spark. She has several open-source e-books on the Scalar platform (related to NodeXL, NVivo 12 Plus, and academic peer review, respectively). She also co-edits the "C2C Digital Magazine" (hosted on the Scalar platform), with Colleague 2 Colleague, a non-profit professional organization. In 2017, she was a co-recipient of the C2C Outstanding Technical Support Award.
