About the Author
I graduated from FSU in 1973 with a Math major and Physics minor. I've been in IT ever since. I've worked with computer graphics, microcomputers, secure messaging, PKI, IPv6 and other areas. My newest book, The Third Internet, has just been published on Amazon.com. The First Internet was the ARPANET, which ran from 1969 to 1982. It used the NCP protocol which had 8 bit addresses. At that time one node might be a mainframe with hundreds of users. Probably less than 10,000 people ever used this Internet. The Second Internet is based on IPv4, which has 32 bit addresses, for a maximum of 4.3B addresses. It is still in use today, but we ran out of public IPv4 addresses back in 2011. Today most people have private addresses, hence cannot run servers. The Third Internet is based on IPv6, which has 128 bit addresses, for 340 Trillion, Trillion, Trillion public addresses. We'll never run out. It was first specified in 1995, but it is just now in rapid deployment mode. If you've heard of 5G, that is one small part of the new Third Internet - for the first time ever, phones will have public addresses. This changes everything!I speak at IPv6 summits all over the world, and am a gold-certified IPv6 Forum trainer. I am running my 5th startup company now, www.sixscape.com, based in Singapore. We are "The Netscape for the IPv6 Internet". My 3rd company was CipherTrust, based in Atlanta. We went from 6 people in my basement (really) to 250 people in 2006, when we sold for $273M.I've been married to a beautiful Filipina (Remy) for 25 years. She has been very patient while I do my ventures and write books. We have three great kids, 26, 22 and 15 now. There is a website for the book, at https://thirdinternet.com - have a look!
