Kristen Malzahn

Kristen Malzahn is a Senior Researcher at Horizon Research, Inc. in Chapel Hill, NC. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Kristen began her career as an elementary school teacher, and over the past few decades has worked on several mathematics education research and evaluation projects. She has published a number of journal articles and book chapters, many of which focus on mathematics professional development for elementary and middle grades teachers. Activating Math Talk is her first book publication and is based on years of research on how to promote high-quality mathematics discourse in elementary classrooms.
