About the Author
Writing sucks, like, really sucks. It's a thankless job where you lock yourself away for hours, writing page after page until you ultimately have some dross, that you've then got to shape into some legible and meaningful piece of prose.Like a stonemason starting with a block of unstructured mineral, writers have to chisel away at word-vomit until they find the core of what they're trying to say inside. On top of this, they've first got to create the word-vomit by splurging a self-set amount of letters into the aether so that they can manipulate them later.Because of this, I enjoy writing immensely. A fiction writer first and foremost, with science fiction and fantasy easily the genres I've written in the most, I also occasionally force myself to write non-fiction, so that it doesn't completely feel like I'm wasting my time.In non-fiction the goal is different, whereas fiction is all about entertainment, non-fiction has to teach, while at the same time remaining engaging enough to compel the reader to continue, and retain what they've read so far.Several non-fiction books I've read are, in a word, boring. I use these books as guidelines for how not to write, and as a result, I hope you find anything I've written to be both informative, and amusing.
