  • Description

Arturia's very first original virtual synth Pigments is here! Synth wiz Tyler Coffin takes you on a journey into this cutting edge virtual synth, covering all of its features and functions, as well as how to design Bass, Lead, and Pad sounds from scratch.

Tyler begins by welcoming you and then jumps right in with what this new synth is all about, plus an in-depth overview if the Pigments interface. Next, Tyler explains the 2 biggest parts of this synth, the Analog Engine, which is a 3-oscillator analog emulation, and then its digital counterpart, the Wavetable Engine, which allows for amazing sounds from a very open ended form of synthesis.

Throughout the rest of the video tutorials, Tyler covers topics such as the Filters, Modulations and Routing, Sources and Groups, the powerful built in Sequencer, the great sounding Multi-FX, and how to understand Pigment's Preset Management system, and effectively use the Browser to save and load the stock presets as well as your own!

Wrapping it up, Tyler gives you videos on sound design with Pigments, showing you how to create Bass, Lead and Pad sounds all from scratch, enabling you to wrap your mind around the seemingly endless options for creating sound with Pigments.

See the individual tutorial descriptions for more info. If you're new to Arturia's first original synth Pigments, or just want to research it further, then this series is a must see… Watch “Arturia Pigments Explained®” today!

Very Helpful, Clear and easy to understand

This was a great course to have.

I am a: Beginner, Musician, Producer, Logic Pro, Studio One

Covers ALL the bases of these updates to one of the most powerful synthesizers out there.

Tyler Coffin is a very pleasant instructor. He guides his audience through all the areas at just the right pace and explains all the functions of Pigments. In the process, he tries something here, screws a little there, and is pleased with the (often surprising) result. One gets the impression that Tyler is not the greatest sound design expert on earth. And I can't stress enough how likeable I find that - because it makes him just like me! In general, he focuses completely on the instrument and not on his artist skills. This makes him pleasantly stand out from those super virtuous, narcissistic jazz synth pianists on YouTube.

Utilization sections are clearly ad lib. The instructor for sound design with Halion was great, but this one took a while to get what was actually happening, and even then... would expect more studied approach for the cost. Also, we are a couple years out now. The whole thing needs a redo.

Tyler goes though everything in this synth plugin, it was clear and simple.

There's something about pace and clarity that is profoundly good in this class on Pigments 3. Nothing blows past you in a flurry of details and everything is laid out simply and clearly. This is what every such presentation should be. It seems that Pigments is now a mature product containing all the different kinds of synthesis and modulation routings and FX where if you wanted to buy and master one and only one synth, this is the one to get. Off the top of my head you get old school analog oscillators, sample playing, wave-table, and additive harmonic engines. FM-DX7 style modulations seems built in to all the synthesis engines. It's just an astounding swiss army knife instrument with tons of bells and whistles that I cannot begin to list in a short review like this. In short, if you want a synthesizer to master and make your own, this is the one. And having this video series as a companion to make it all clearly understandable as you master the various aspects is a huge plus as well.

I liked the tutorial guy's approach to showing example sound creations, rather than dissecting already made presets. I find it useful to witness the creative process in that form for a change.

The only place where you actually can come along and learn about this great synth in detail. Examples of sound design are particularly so exciting and insightful.

Clear and concise instruction on how to use Pigments. Very helpful. Glad to see videos for the updates as well
