Welcome to animal drawing class!

In the time that I have spent teaching art I have noticed many of my students really enjoy painting and coloring. However they do not enjoy drawing and sketching as much. Drawing is very important to learn and develop. For many, myself included, it can be difficult to learn. It took me many years to get good at sketching.

I invite you to learn animal gesture drawing. This method involves capturing the flow or gesture of the creature. In the class we will go over the basic materials you'll need, we'll do a warm-up and then we will do 3 gesture drawing.

The 3 reference photos I will be working from are provided for you to download in the class resources section.

Materials:

I invite you to use any type of paper and pencil you are most comfortable with.

I will be using Strathmore Bristol board 100 lbs paper.

I will also use a .7mm mechanical pencil for the initial blocking in as well as Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencils in Cerulean Blue and Crimson Red for the second and third layers of details.

About me:

I am a 27 year old fine artist working out of my home studio in Greenville, South Carolina. I specialize in watercolors, colored pencils, acrylic and alcohol markers as well as acrylic paints. I greatly enjoy painting realistic animals, landscapes and cityscapes. I love teaching and sharing what I have learned with others. I enjoy what I call "Instagram art" and it's what mainly influences me - the use of bright colors and eye catching subjects. This style is what I enjoy and find most satisfying when I draw or paint.
